Estones Celler - Sergi Montalà - DO Montsant
Estones – Wines of Mas Sersal was born in 2008 in order to produce quality wines in a sustainable and respectful manner with their environment.
Today the renovated objective of our cellar is to work better every day, strengthening our ties with the wine appellations Montsant and Terra Alta, and identifying ourselves with regions of great wine tradition: Priorat and Terra Alta.
So this is our commitment; make good wines for you, unique, original and with their own character. -
Celler Comunica - Patric Murillo - DO Montsant
WINES ARE MADE FROM THE SOIL
This is what everyone can be heard saying; at least they have done so in the last few years. We fully believe this and in fact, we spend more time in the vineyards than in the winery. We want to get to know each and every one of our vines which we have at our Mas d’en Cosme (Falset) estate and each metre of earth where they grow.
Mas d’en Cosme estate has mainly granite based soils. And this is no coincidence. It is precisely the soil type we were looking for and had dreamed of for many years: a granite soil estate vineyard where we can make our fresh, vibrant wines like the ones which granite soils tend to make in D.O. Montsant.
This is our plan. We are passionate about granite and we have been really successful with it! Garnatxa Negra (Red Grenache), Garnatxa Peluda (Downy Grenache), Carinyena (Carignan) and the small amount of Syrah (Shiraz) we have planted all naturally help! -
Mas Lahon - Eric Lahon - DO Montsant
The LAHON family, originating from Brussels (Belgium), moved to Catalonia in 1994. Eric Lahon, the father, became enchanted by the Spanish wine growing realm and decided to exercise his skills in wine tasting and appreciation writing. Among other activities, he organised for more than 5 years wine-tasting sessions for the readers and subscribers to the daily newspaper “La Vanguardia “. Similar sessions were organised on private, professional or factual occasions. While wandering around in the Priorat region looking for interesting wines he could select for his thematic wine-tasting sessions, he discovered a 9.7 ha (around 20 acres) vineyard planted with native old white and red Grenache vines. After a Master in Oenology and Viticulture, he and his family acquired the land and created their own brand of wine….MAS LAHON and its LOU’s were born.
Our activity consists in wine growing, elaboration, fermentation, production and the marketing of our own wines.
Our mission is to pass on and to share our passion with wine lovers eager to discover and taste our finest wines. -
Cellers Capafons Osso - Fancesc Xavier Capafons Osso - DO Montsant
1299/5000
The Capafons-Ossó family has five generations dedicated to the cultivation of vineyards and to the production of wines, each one of the generations has contributed their efforts and their knowledge to extract from the vineyards the best quality of wine.
We produce wines in the PRIORAT region for two decades with vineyards in two denominations of the D.O Montsant and D.O.Q Priorat, differentiated by soil, climate, grape varieties and historical and geographical subjects. -
Portal del Montsant - Nico James - DO Montsant
In 2003 we opened the Portal del Montsant winery, taking over the old Marcá wine cooperative, a building where wine had been made since the beginning of the last century. This increasingly popular Montsant winery stands out for its use of local grape varieties: Garnache and Cariñena. The wines -subtle, fragrant and complex – take their name from the founder of the Carthenian monastic order, Saint Bruno of Cologne.
Small parcels of land, high quality crus, and a variety of soils (clay rich, chalk and sand), of varying aspect and elevation, make for a selection of individual wines, rich in variety and personality. The majority are aged Cariñena, of limited production, from a total of 30 hectares. The average age of the vines is 60 years old, are goblet pruned and are planted densely, with more than 4500 vines per hectare.
The climate of the region (Masroig, El Molar, La Figuera, Mar-ça) is typically mediterranean, with the vineyards such as Cornudella to the north, and at an elevation of 700-800 meters, enjoying some characteristics of a continental climate. -
Celler de Capcanes - Jürgen Wagner - DO Monsant
Cairats Cellar - Ramon Masip - DO Montsant
Hi Pascal,
Thank you very much for the video, we are waiting for the article as well.
About the vermouth, Andres Roig from Ibervinos has just placed an order with both Vermut Falset (white and red) which probably will arrive to Zurich next week. Let me remind you his phone and email so you can buy it to him directly: -
Dosterras - Fernado Grajales - DO Montsant
Ortovins - Joan Asense - DO Montsant
ORTO, A WAY OF DOING
Orto is the time when a star crosses the horizon line and becomes visible in our hemisphere, the birth of a new day. Orto is also a prefix of Greek origin that means right, correct and, even, beautiful. Both concepts define who we are at Orto Vins, growers who revive and maintain a deep link with the vines and the wine. -
Acustic Cellar - Albert Jané - DO Monsant
Celler Masroig - Eulàlia Roca - DO Montsant
Celler Masroig has maintained its essence and character for more than 100 years. Since day one the members have worked continuously, introducing new knowledge and innovating. Founded in 1917, it is currently one of the most celebrated wineries of the Montsant Designation of Origin in Priorat County. -
Cellers Sant Rafel - Xavier Penas - DO Montsant
Mas Sant Rafel
A tiny wine growing universe where we make wine and which we also call home
Located near the village of Pradell de la Teixeta, in the county of Priorat, Mas d’en Rafel is an unusual estate within the Denominació d’Origen Montsant (wine appellation). This D.O. (Designation of Origin) has quickly gained international recognition in a very demanding wine market.
First of all, this is because our vineyards are to be found a few miles from the Mediterranean sea as the crow flies. It is the Catalan Coastal Mountain Range which separates us from it. The cooling influence of the sea comes to us every evening in the shape of the Garbinada which caresses the vines. This south-easterly wind comes packed with moisture and helps to balance out the water stress of our vines. This is much appreciated when rainfall is scarce. During the summer, however extreme the summer is, this “Garbinada” sea breeze cools the air at Mas d’en Rafel and allows the grapes to ripen slowly.
Secondly, our vineyards are a true display of all kinds of ancient dry stone walls or “marges” which in the past were used to mark out and hold up our manmade terraces on the mountain slopes, from the tree line, down to the ravine.
For us, dry stone walls (a traditional technique which enabled the construction of handmade terraces and small buildings using only local stone without any kind of mortar) is an extremely valuable agricultural and historical resource, which little by little we have been restoring in our vineyards. They are a living example of how the natural landscape of this area has always been closely linked with human activity.
This is how at Mas d’en Rafel, the landscape, the mountain, the vines, a thousand and one stories and man’s imprint over many centuries have ended up creating a tiny wine growing universe, a place where we make wines and which we call home. -
Cooperative Falset Marca – Etim - Ester Borràs - DO Montsant
We are more than just a company
We are a centenary cooperative, founded in 1912 with more than 250 families of grape growers who have lived in the villages of Falset and Marça for generations. We know and love every inch of this land intimately.
We are committed to our project and are aware the difference our hard work throughout the year in the vineyards can make in terms of quality grapes. We all work our land carefully to obtain excellent grapes, which together with unusual climate and soils, help us to produce extraordinary wines.
We are part of the D.O. Montsant, located in the county of Priorat, in southern Catalonia and not far from Barcelona. It is intensely rural and wildly Mediterranean, with every inch of earth drenched in wine culture. It is a land where you can breathe in the tranquility of a tiny land, which is at the same time overtly cosmopolitan. Its inhabitants are constantly searching and looking beyond its boundaries to the world outside
A wine for each moment
We are able to extract the aromatic strength of our Grenaches and Carignans as well as other carefully selected grape varieties. We capture the intensity of our soils and climate during winemaking, which leave a distinctive imprint on our wines.
Our wide range of wines it helps to find the perfect match for each moment. Have a look to our portfolio and make your choice.
Want to see where our wines are produced?
The Cooperative winery building in Falset is one of the Cathedrals of Wine designed by the architect Cesar Martinell, disciple of Antoni Gaudi. The building, dating from 1919, is a jewel of Modernism, an exponent of the architectural heritage of rural Catalonia from those dates. From the great structural elements to the small details, the conception of this imposing building combines the beauty of the forms with the functionality for which it was built.
Here is where Cooperativa Falset Marça still produces all the wines, and can be visited on guided tours all year round by appointment.

Coca i Fito Celler - Miquel Coca i Fito - DO Montsant
Coca i Fitó is the name given to the flagship wines of the winery. Wines produced in the DO Montsant and the DO Terra Alta. The most important factor is the soil of the vineyards. The resulting wines have a nature of their own. We can define them as provocative wines, harmonic, refreshing and full of nuances.
http://en.cocaifito.cat
The grape varieties used in both DO’s are Grenache (black, hairy and white Grenache), Macabeu, Carignan and in less percentage Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. The winery produces a couple of remarkable late harvest sweet wines, one in each wine region. -
Celler Pascona - DO Monsant
http://pascona.com/
Celler Pascona is located in the village of Falset (la Vall dels Fontanals) and includes 3 of the 5 terroirs that we can find in the Montsant region. The domain covers 20 ha of clay soil, granitic sand soil and llicorella (slate soil), and is divided into 17 different plots. 6 different grape varieties grow on these plots: Garnacha, Samsó, Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Muscat de Gra Petit. In addition, a beautiful macabeo wine is made from the grapes that come from a vineyard nearby, located on the banks of the river Ebro.
The Montsant project
Using biodynamic techniques, a separate wine is made out of each terroir, so that the wines reflect all the characteristics of that specific terroir. Moreover, the wines are produced in a natural way. We will, for example, start from a wild fermentation from the cellar’s natural yeast and restrain from filtering the wines.
The unique location of Celler Pascona implies a microclimate. This means that the average temperature is slightly lower than the average temperature in the rest of the Montsant region. As a result, the wines are a bit fruitier and contain more freshness compared to other Montsant wines.
